How much does it really cost to carry out the Hajj for 40 days?

The real cost of doing the hajj continues to increase every year. Rp54.1 million per hajj pligrim in 2016 has reached to Rp70.6 million per hajj pligrim in 2019. The real cost of performing the Hajj in 2020 was expected to increase due to inflation, currency fluctuations, flight costs, meals, lodging and others.

This increase in real costs is not in line with an increase in direct costs (which are paid by hajj pligrims). Since 2018, the cost of hajj paid by hajj pligrims has not increased. The cost remains at Rp35.2 million.

This non-increasing Direct Cost has resulted in a significant increase in the use of the value of benefit to cover the real costs required. If the cost of Hajj in 2020 remained at Rp35.2 million, the use of the value of benefit/the indirect costs will be much greater than the cost paid by the hajj pligrim, which is Rp37.9 million.
