EXCEEDING TARGET, BPKH MANAGES HAJJ FINANCE OF Rp113 TRILLION

Jakarta – The Hajj Fund Management Agency (BPKH) in 2018 managed to exceed the target of more than 100 percent of managed funds, from the planned fund of Rp111.8 trillion, realized to Rp113 trillion. This achievement was also followed by an increase in the total of new pilgrims to 664 thousand people, an increase of 120 percent. In addition, BPKH made indirect cost efficiency of Rp224 billion. Meanwhile, the Hajj funds managed by BPKH contributed 32 percent of the total third party funds of Sharia Commercial Banks.

BPKH determined that 2019 was the investment year. The investment includes the improvement of hajj services in Indonesia in a transparent and accountable manner and in accordance with Sharia principles. The Head of BPKH Executive Board Anggito Abimanyu stated that BPKH intended to achieve the following targets in 2019:

1. The 2019 managed fund target was Rp121 trillion, 50 percent of which was managed by BPS-BPIH and the other 50 percent was allocated for investment. BPKH ensures that the PYD (7 trillion) would proceed in 2019. In 2020, the composition of fund placements at BPS-BPIH was 30 percent.
2. BPKH would invest in several direct investment objects in Indonesia (aviation) and Saudi Arabia (Hotel and Kitchen/Catering).
3. Allocation of Indirect costs (operational costs) for the 2019 Hajj was estimated to be between Rp6.5-Rp6.8 trillion. Around 500 million USD would be allocated in foreign currency. BPKH is conducting the procurement of foreign currency USD by auction and will place it at BPS-BPIH. BPKH will also conduct an auction for Living Cost to BPS-BPIH
4. The target for new pilgrims is 700 thousand people. There are still around 13 million unregistered pilgrims.
5. BPKH will carry out ISO for the process of cancelling and returning the initial deposit for regular and special pilgrimages.
6. 2019 Benefit Activities were focused on supporting Hajj services, disaster relief and Islamic organizations through BUS/UUS.
