BPKH SOCIAL RESPONSIBILLITY ASSIST RECONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION OF PALU, SIGI AND DONGGALA

After the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction in Palu, Sigi and Donggala in 2018, various problems have still lingered and left deep wounds. Many Central Sulawesi residents have lost their homes, possessions and livelihoods. People affected made various efforts to open a new page in their lives since many people still lived in emergency tents and had difficulty with getting clean water. The Hajj Fund Management Agency (BPKH), through its social responsibility program, came to relieve and assist Central Sulawesi residents affected by the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction through its its rehabilitation and reconstruction activities. Its aid, worth Rp20 billion, was symbolically handed over by the BPKH Agency Head Anggito Abimanyu to Social Responsibility Partners of Baznas Rumah Zakat, DT Peduli and Lazismu at the Central Sulawesi Governor’s Office. Other assistance came in the form of land clearing from debris and mud, education scholarships for 650 students who were directly affected, and provisions of healthy food and medical equipment through Lazis Muhammadiyah Social Responsibility Partners. Meanwhile, in Sigi, BPKH also provided assistance in the form of 10 temporary shelters and clean water facilities delivered through its Mandiri Amal Insani Social Responsibility Partner. BPKH also helped establishing the Al Khairat Sigi emergency school through its Rumah Zakat Social Responsibility Partner. The presence of BPKH in assisting with the recovery and rehabilitation process of Palu, Sigi and Donggala (PASIGALA) was all part of the mandates of Law No. 34 of 2014 concerning the Financial Management of Hajj, which obliged BPKH to provide benefits and improve the welfare of Muslims.
