BPKH AND PEGADAIAN AGREE ON POTENTIAL INVESTMENT COOPERATION

Jakarta – The Hajj Fund Management Agency (BPKH) and Pegadaian signed a memorandum of understanding on potential investment cooperation at the Pullman Hotel, Jakarta on Monday (25/03/2019). Both parties agreed to establish investment cooperation in several fields while still paying attention to the conformity of sharia principles, laws and regulations. This Memorandum of Understanding is an initial agreement for BPKH and Pegadaian to carry out mutually supportive cooperation. The potential cooperations between BPKH and Pegadaian include securities, funding, financing, gold investment, collaboration for hajj literacy and other relevant business activities. The cooperation is in accordance with PP No. 5 of 2018 Article 26 paragraph 1 which states that Expenditures for the placement and or investment of Hajj finances can be realized in the form of Islamic banking products. The paragraph 2 states that Expenditures for Hajj Fund investment can be realized in the form of securities, gold, direct investment, and other investments. The next paragraph states that expenditures for the placement and/or investment of Hajj Finance are carried out in accordance with sharia principles by taking into account aspects of security, prudence, value of benefit, and liquidity. In addition to meeting the aspects of security, prudence, value of benefit, and liquidity, Hajj Finance investment expenditures must be carried out by optimizing risk management. The signing was carried out by the Head of the BPKH Executive Board Anggito Abimanyu and the President Director of Pegadaian Kuswiyoto. The event was attended by BPKH Executive Board Member for Investment Beny Witjaksono and Executive Board Member for Operation Iskandar Zulkarnain.
